Albuterol Burns the Fat

While Albuterol is a broncodialator used by asthma patients to improve breathing, it also has very good fat burning properties. It is marketed under the following names: Proventil, Proventil Repetabs, Ventolin, Volmax. It is a beta-2 agonist and as such its effects are to dilate broncial passageways, and release fatty acids into the bloodstream, hence the added effectiveness of cardio in conjunction with albuterol. It does also have some minor effect on beta-1 recceptors which accounts for the increase in blood pressure and heart rate. Albuterol also helps in the conversion of ATP to cyclic AMP.

As an added bonus it does not appear that users develop a tolerance to albuterol as may be the case with other fat burners such as ephedra or clenbuterol.

“…Regular use of long-acting beta(2)-agonists is not associated with significant tolerance to their bronchodilator action, impairment in the response to albuterol, decreased baseline pulmonary function, increased response to methacholine, or increased risk of adverse cardiac events…” Nelson, H.S. J Allergy Clin Immunol. 2006 Jan;117(1):3-16.

Fat burning doses are much higher than the amount of albuterol available in inhalers. Typically usage is 12-16mg per day spread out over 3-4 doses. Albuterol has a short half life of 3.8 hours which is why the doses must be spread out like this. This short half life also works in the favor of the user since it allows for concentration levels to drop prior to sleep. Ever try to sleep when taking stimulants? Albuterol does not cause insomnia in most users like caffeine or ephedra do.

Albuterol may cause side effects. These tend to disappear after the first week or so. Dropping your dose will help as well.

* nervousness
* shakiness
* dizziness
* excitement
* headache
* difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
* nosebleed
* increased appetite
* upset stomach
* vomiting
* stomach pain
* muscle cramps
* cough

Some side effects can be serious. The following symptoms are uncommon, but if you experience any of them, call your doctor immediately:

* rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
* chest pain or discomfort
* severe rash
* hives
* itching
* increased difficulty breathing
* difficulty swallowing
* swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
* hoarseness

That being said, I do not know of anyone who has experienced side effects from albuterol worse than some shakiness during the first week of use.

    I’ve tried it and lost weight but I most certainly build up a tolerance to it but I also build up a tolerance to the popular over the counter fat burners also. After a week I can take these or a fat burner, drink a pot of coffee and sleep like a baby. I noticed something about albuterol. I can take a pill drink a red bull sleep for 2 hours and wake up 2 pounds lighter. I thought maybe it was water weight but my scale did not show a loss.
